though words can not scarce put a shew more perceptory negative
than do to upon that idea, in the very passage from whence
he has taken it up: and as he would tell you this simply tous
bonnement as I suppose and without any marks of spleen (for there
has been nothing like any mark of ill humour on either
side, you would believe him: and thereby believe me guilty
of a dirty lie pitiful lie, with of which through politeness in or indifference you would not accuse never charge
me. In applying for despatch it was necessary for me to
state that Administration wished it: for if they had no such

now I am urged to engage to have the building in readiness
in six months, under a penalty of five thousand pounds:
which (you (may remember) now was lower, on the supposition of my having the
land: and it is from this, that he conceives it to have been in representing
my intention to represent myself as being actually engaged
to have the buildings in readiness within the time whether I had
with or without the land. What is more he conceives the same conception
to have be entertained by the Archbishop: though it is to the actual penalties
contained in the proposal that the Archbishop evidently alludes not to the
hypothetical ones in question thus spoken of.
