Allow me here to represent to your Lordship
how much reason the neighbourhood will have
to rejoice at the change of plan which in the
room of more three more afresh Supervisors, subject to no controul
but has what has reference to the prosperity of the
establishment itself, and they nor precedent substitutes a single an unconnected individual
like myself. By an article which I myself took
care to inserted, though independent of every Administration as your Lordship may have observed I am subjected to be removed by the
Court of King's Bench in a most summary way at a minute's warning: and
by the terms of that article, should I ever recede from
my engagements, or whether that then finds as to those points in
which the neighbourhood as such were interested
or any other, there is not that individual or obscure,
who might not make his appearance
in court in person, and without any
expence, and face to face call me to account for the failure.
Of moe Independent of man, a slave to justice and the law a
slave
such is the situation in which I insisted chose
upon placing to place myself. and I would be doing injustice
to Administration not to add that these terms To p. 9.
were acceded to without a word.

It is partly in that view and partly for the sake of making the
resistance to which I have doomed myself the more comfortable, that I
should make a point of giving the place spot considered at large what establishment
it w may be susceptible of: nor does it appear to me that it
would be any departure
from the true spirit
of the institution, if
while with regard reference to the persons
for whose correction
it is designed it has is
seen to have the properties of a
prison and an house establishment
for forced labour, to the
neighbourhood, to
visitors and to passengers
it should
wear the ap aspect
of a ferme oracé
