Hendon Middlesex April
Dear Sir
My evil genius had sent me out of town hither at
the time you did me the favour were kind enough to call for the purpose of catching
the moment procuring for my Bill the Panopticon the honour of being read appraisal from by Mr
Pitt. I repaired hither for the purpose of working without going on with working for a few hours interruption
at a financial resource I have been particularly
working at work at for a good sometime while past (after having had it in contemplation
for at least three dozen years) with a view of , using
my endeavours one of these days to present it to his notice.
I have from my Brother who has just sent your note hither
by express that he looked out as well as he could and addressed to you a copy
which was is the only legible one I have of the Bill, except
one which is not yet compleated — I wish he may have been
successful in his endeavours to get it up perfect —
I am, Dear Sir,
ever your most obliged
Jeremy Bentham
When I saw you yesterday, I put
a question the object of which was
to know whether there would be any
possible use in my staying in town: from your answer I unfortunately
inferred the negative.
