a H new-built House standing close to the River
about mid-way between the Bridge and the Church.
This spot which is the whole of it in Gardeners' grounds,
has no elevation not the smallest elevation. It is
in contact with two roads, which issuing immediately
from a great Bridge joining two such places as
Chelsea and Battersea must as it is scarce necessary to observe be more frequented than
any the most frequented road not at a distance from
such a Bridge: it is in contrast with the town of
Battersea. In this space which thus is unsusceptible
of extension or amounting to perhaps 1/7 part of
the space judged proper that by such high authority had been deemed requisite for for 600 Prisoners must an
establishment be compressed which by the terms agreed
on can not be destined for fewer than 1000: a number
to which your Memorialist is willing to give
any extension which the public service may be thought appear
to call for, and that without asking an inch of ground
in addition to what stands appropriated to the 600 was allotted
that which by the respectable Gentleman to whose place
he takes upon the occasion was deemed insufficient for
£900.
