Sir
Proposed penitentiary house on Battersea Rise.
Understanding that your recollection wants some assistance
With regard to the reasons for adhering to the existing
choice, I take the liberty of inclosing a quondam printed paper
(with a few recent additions) as being less troublesome
to read than a written extract from the discarded memorial.
Should any further additions be deemed necessary (which I am
inclined to hope will not be the case) I know not how I could
avoid troubling you, Sir, for an intimation, (though the
briefest would be sufficient) of the points to which it were
your pleasure such further additions should apply. It is
with inexpressible satisfaction that I cam to understand
as yesterday that either no difficulty ever existed, or at any
rate none now remains other than what concerns the supposed
increase of value on the part of the land: and in regard to
this point the offer subjoined to the inclosed paper, will, I flatter
myself, be found of itself sufficient to supersede the necessity
of all farther elucidations. I have the honour to be
with all respect
Sir,
your most obedient
and most humble servt
Jeremy Bentham
Rt Hon: DA: Dundas.
