For the the designation of a teacher of the branch of art and science –
here to the branch of the logic of the will – here termed deontology
the single worded appellation deontologist in one single word may be applied employed
applied employed and with the advantage which all single-worded appellations
possess as compared with compound ones.(a)

Note
(a) When the appellation is compound, the words of which it is composed
can scarcely be prevented kept from getting entangled with the other words
belonging to the sentence of which the appellation constitutes performs the function of the nomenclature
can.

Synonymous to is the term already in use – moralist.

But how (it may be asked) is it that a lesson in deontology
is in any case an expression of will? Answer

The imperative is the form in which it frequently makes its appearance.
True it is that the deontologist, by the supposition
not having at his command in his hand any of the power of government
can not comply apply the force of the legal sanction to the purpose of
giving effect to it. But by the very act of delivering such a lesson
what he does is in quality of member of the Public Opinion
Tribunal to use his endeavour towards eliciting the force power of the popular
or moral sanction to the production of that same effect.

Thus it is that by the Deontologist no such use is may be
made of both the abovementioned branches of logic at the
the logic of the will, in the manner just mentioned: and the logic
of the understanding, to wit by indication afforded of the inducements
which the nature of man and things affords for the maintenance
of the line of conduct which on each occasion he recommends:
of such indication so given the immediate object and
purpose being to draw the attention of the reader to certain relations
of cause and effect of which but for this memento might not
have presented themselves to his mind. Of those indications the
object will in every case, in so far as the greatest happiness principle
is the ruling principle, to make it appear to the party addressed
that the course on the occasion
recommended to him will
be contributing to his happiness
in a greater degree
than any different course
that could be proposed.
