In law, subservience of conciseness to cognoscibility
2. Definition its subservience to conciseness as well as clearness.

Law is the subject in relation to which the
importance of appropriate aptitude on the part of language
is more in the most preeminent degree incontestable
and conspicuous and incontestable. Set aside
law, applied to any other subject (religion is here altogether
out of the question) suppose the difference between one degree of
aptitude and another nothing of more importance there
than the difference between one degree and another of the momentary pleasure or displeasure produced by the bearing of the portion
of discourse which on the occasion in question happens to
have been employed. But in the application to made
of it to the subject of law depends the life of men and
the possession of everything
man depends for his life, and
for every thing by which life is rendered dear or valuable to him.

Different features of qualities desirable in language with a
view to the aptitude of law in respect of form: or say
features of appropriate aptitude in language.

In particular, correctness, clearness, comprehensiveness
and conciseness.

Instruments by which the union of these qualities may
be effected. Universality, coupled with definition and
constant identity of denomination.

Examples of those instruments locutions operating as instruments towards this purpose.

1. The word principle: – applicable to the whole field
of thought and action – physical as well as moral
branch.

2. The word function applied to the Executive bis tris sub-branch
of the legal political bis sub-branch of the nerve
branch.
