Constitutional Code.
Ch. General Rules
§.
Compared with pecuniary punishments the
evil produced by the obligation of making compensation,
may be, by any amount greater, than the
evil inflicted by a pecuniary punishment, under
the name of punishment. See Code of Procedure,
Ch. §.
This point will require to be attended to
in so far as the arrangements made in the
system of procedure, are determined by the consideration
of the magnitude of the evil, which the
Defendant may eventually be made to suffer.
9. Sittings, Hearings, Examinations.

these several words, see the Code of Procedure.
10. Quasi-oath by all.
For the universal application of punishment
to false statement, if accompanied with
mendacious consciousness or temerity in the
course of Judicature, and in particular whether by
a party or an extraneous witness, see the Code
of Procedure, Ch. §.
For the Declaration denominated a vice
oath, whereby warning is given of the punishment
to him who is made to pronounce it,
see the Code of Procedure, Ch. §.
