Letter VI Parcus to Herald on Rules Licences

Some time ago being at an Inn at a public table in
both one of the company
a Welsh gentleman of about the middle age, the
abundance of the bonne fortune it had happened to have
to experience was a topic on which he expounded with
satisfaction. Upon my noticing it, which
of course could not be done in any other tone
than that of felicitation, he answered me gave me to understand with
great gravity said he in a tone of gravity in measured accents that in his opinion variety was
wholesome.

The by which in the University of
Oxford, the interest religion, morality and learning of the Clergy
and laity of the rising generation are provided for
with such pious care, were the of as is well known
the production of the once Reverend Father in
Archbishop Land. It appears that in this opinion
of the wholesomeness of variety he had gone beforehand
with my abovementioned Welsh friend: and
where Archbishop Land the wise father of Alma Mater has gone before, it does
not become
none can have become any son of hers
to hesitate about following after. For the truth of
this what position I will venture to appeal to the Right Reverend
the Lord Bishop of London of this present day by whom whose
pious
we have been so emphatically enjoined to lay our
wills and understandings prostrate before all and singular
the orator of God– reverend persons who having
as everybody alike knows received the Holy Ghost are
thereby became the Oracles of God.
