Letter IV. Parcus to Herald on Rape-licence &c
In this scale of Mr Wynan's establi for which the
branches of British India are indebted to the wisdom of
Mr Wynan – a wisdom scarcely capable of being
exceeded even by that of his own ancestors
species of justice differing in goodness in the proportion manifested
by the price respectively put upon them: they are
1. the justice of the Sudden Courts: 2. the supreme
justice of the Courts: 3. the still better justice of
the Provincial Courts. 4. the better and better still and best of all justice
of the and
Courts.
To do full justice to the wisdom of Mr Wynan
a competent member of Bills of costs for a prosecution
for those "trifling causes" of which rape is mentioned
as one. Trifling they are called by him: perhaps
in the opinion of a wife, such daughter or sister of his
they would not be altogether so: but f by difference of one sex
and situation, differences in opinion are produced.
