By a crime what he meant was an act of belonging
to the sort of those to the of which men in general are
in the habit of attaching disapprobation more or less intensive.
Unfortunately – such is the delusion which yet is
prevalent while disapprobation is attached to maleficent
acts the maleficence of which has place upon a narrow scale
upon the narrowest scale, approbation, rising to admiration,
and declaring manifesting itself by applause is felt from produced by the contemplation
of acts of exactly the same nature and quality, upon
an extensive – upon the most extensive scale. Doing evil
to a single person putting to death a man is an object of general : of
highly intense: doing the same act to persons by
thousands and tens of thousands putting them to death all the same day here is the object
of esteem rising to admiration in the character of victorious European
King or Military Commander. Obtaining money by a false
pretence of this or that individual a man is subjected, to
subjected in so far as it is in the power of an Act of the Legislating Parliament
to subject him to whipping, imprisonment or transportation
a composed of banishment aggravated by forced labour in
a shape not of his choice. Obtaining money to any times the
amount – to the amount of thousands of pounds a year from
a countless multitude of individuals by pretences equally not less
false, and with full of the falsity,
he is regarded with scarce a a sentiment of disapprobation.
Why? because the suffering produced by him is produced
upon so large a scale: produced by him under and by
virtue of the an office by which he is enriched with the power
of evil doing in the shape and quality, and with the
or or or Judge.
