I have here placed by the side of it a quantity of matter designed to present
to view the same arrangements, but conceived expressed in a form in
some particulars different.
1. In the first place the whole mass is broken down into
a series of propositions in such number as by reducing to the reduction of the length of each
presented itself as receiving to its maximum the undisputedly
desirable property of clearness.
2. In the next place, for to each distinguishable matter I have
devised an appropriate a separate head such as presented itself as conveying
a conception of the general nature and use of it.
Of these heads a list being given in a portion of the proposed
Code, it would serve as a guide to conveyances as also to their
Clients. To every eye the observat every eye would be presented
the two questions whether the best of the several purposes are well chosen
whether the list of them is well chosen – and how far in the instance of each individual conveyance they are answered
and fulfilled by the matters several portions of matter which they announce.
