Penal Code – Form Language

Language in many of its local modifications, particularly
in all which have place in civilized Europe and the other
Countries that hav the population of which has been derived
from Europe exhibits an imperfection a source of misrepresentation and misconception, the pernicious
effects if not unless obviated would be liable to cover
the whole field of legislation. The conjunction or termed
as it has been by grammarians the a disjunctive conjunction is wont
to be employed indiscriminately in two widely different senses,
the difference between which is in the utmost degree important.
To Of these one is termed by grammarians To one of these the epithet or disjunctive has been
applied, to the other the epithet sub-disjunctive.
disjunctive: disjunctive simply: the other sub-disjunctive.
The disjunctive sense is that in which it is employed
at when the diversity objects the diversity of between which it
is employed to denote to bring to view are the things objects, whether they
are who that are meant to be designated, the sub-disjunctive
sense is that in which it is employed when
the objects the diversity of between which it is employed to designate,
are the signs – the words the two or more different signs employed
in designating the same thing or object.

Thus when I say Offence are Injuries are
injuries affecting individuals only or Injuries affecting the
public at large, the sense in which I use the conjunction
or is the disjunctive: when I say, One
of the modifications of Reputation-affecting injuriation
is vituperative or indeterminate, the sense in
which I use this same conjunction word is the sub-disjunctive.
for by The difference in the two senses of
this same word is of the utmost importance: for in
the first one case what I mean by it is to designate two different groupes
of offences: in the other case I what I mean by it is to designate
the one and the same class groupe of offences.
