My favourite Bentham quote
"Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others."

(Possibly not by Bentham.)

My favourite Bentham book
Philip's, of course.
My favourite amusing anecdote about Jeremy Bentham
Bentham and Mill once got tired of standing around waiting for cheap air fares and stowed away on a tramp steamer, which, it turned out, wasn't going where they wanted to go anyway. Two days out they were discovered and offered the choice of working their passage or leaving the ship instantly. Some days later, while they were scrubbing the decks, Bentham (who was in a foul mood) snarled at Mill, "Where's the bloody soap?" Mill said, quite cheerfully, "By jove, it does, doesn't it!" Bentham said a rude nautical word and threw his bucket at him.

(Possibly not about Bentham.)

About me
I'm the person responsible for putting this MediaWiki-based collaborative transcription tool together, so if anything doesn't work it's probably my fault :)

In mitigation I'd also say, I haven't written any of the code that's running here (well maybe a couple of bits) - but part of our grand experiment is exactly to see what can be achieved with lots of bits of free, open-source software. Wikipedia has proved a huge collaborative success and so I thought we should be able to put the underlying software to similar use for a slightly different academic purpose. Time and experience will tell if that was a reasonable assumption!

Not only is it part of our major experiment to investigate what can be accomplished using a wide variety of free, open-source software, but I myself have not developed any of the code that is running here (well, maybe a couple of pieces). https://phrazle.co
