Paper Mischief
What led me to this anonymous pamphlet was was another
pamphlet "The cause of the present Famine threatened Famine which I saw advertised at the same time
and as issuing from the same shop, as Mr Fox's
speech of the 10 Oct. 1800. In this pamphlet what I could descry of
reason what share of reason presented itself to my
view seemed to be included in the compass of the title
together with blended mixed up and confounded with
a larger quantity of matter to which the same approving term of
opprobrium could not as it seemed without great
impropriety be applied.† † transcribing the title.
In the course of the speech thus ascribed to
Mr Fox, that illustrious Statesman is made to speak
of the any "encrease of in the amount of the
"circulating medium" as what "must of necessity
"have greatly depretiated the value of money": and
to the words circulating medium are subjoined
is subjoined a reference in form of a note a
reference saying Vide Iniquity of Banking: Parts
I and II. Published by J.S. Jordan. Sending I sent
accordingly for the two pamphlets I found that
so far as the of the title page may be believed Part I had arrived
at the 4th edition, and Part 2d at the second.
