Paper Mischief
The total number – sum total of money employed
The total number of transfers of all sorts remaining
the same as also the proportion between the
number of transfers affecting the real value of income
and of the number of transfers not affecting the
real value of income – as also the quantities of and
qualities of vendible articles made transferred at each of the
respective transfers, it is evident that by the any
addition made to the sum total of the money employed
in the making of such transfers as are made in the way of
purchase within the year the amount respective amount of the several
sums employed in such respective purchases
must some or all of them can not but be augmented:
and if distribution of the mass of money be not
thus added be in any other than the exact proportion
of the several incomes, it follows that by the any expenditure
made of the whole totals of the respective incomes
after such addition the proportions between
the real value⊞ ⊞ quantity and quality included of the goods articles respectively purchased by the possessors
of those incomes can not be have been the same as it was
before such addition: but that in some instances
it must be greater, in others less: and that accordingly
in proportion as the effective power of the
augmented incomes so augmented incomes taken together has been encreased by the
augmentation that of the unaugmented incomes
taken together must have been diminished.
