LIII. And be it Enacted, That the plaintiff shall enter with the Clerk of the Registrar a note of his claim, to be called a Plaint, stating shortly what sum he seeks and on what ground, and shall serve the defendant personally with a copy of the same Two weeks at the least before the sittings appointed by the Judge for trying such causes; and the defendant being so served shall appear in person at the time and place mentioned in the note, or send some one to appear for him, with the copy of the note served upon him.
