Review.
In all matters of legislation and government, for
Between Mr Brougham in his character of coveter of
good gifts and Sir Robert in his character of giver of the
same, there has on this occasion bel been a evalition –
a publickly declared Honble House condition. In the breast
of the Righ Honble Gentleman has place a declared and
aversion to all "controversy" he has made no
secret of it: we could bring proofs of it under his own hand:
this dislike he amongst so many other things he learnt in
the great Paper Obedience School of Oxford: he his
shares in in. Ferdinand the beloved King of Spain,
Don Miguel the no less beloved King of Portugal,
Der Metternich Emperor of Austria
Alexandrovitch Emperor of all the Russias,
and Ally Emperor of all the . In
this same dislike aversion the and Honble Gentlemen concurr
most cordially with the his new friend the
Right Honble Gentleman: controversy would be as compleatly
hostile as anything could be to the this declared common
purpose: the with this new the new burthen we shall see the
of this as if the burthen of the same sort under
which they have so long been were not yet
sufficient.
At the bottom of the covert "controversy" they both of them
beheld reason. Like Tom in to an ill
child, reason is to both of them an object of terror. Even
when they see it they don't know what it is: they don't know
what to make of it. If asked for reasons, and found to under a necessity of giving an
answer the Right Honble Gentleman would give assertion,
the Learned and Honble Gentleman, would give reasons,
the Right Honble Gentleman, assertion.
