Under matchless Constitution, these supposed acts crimes, and the several
correspondent imputations and infernal accusations viewed far as
during the intervening number of years with undisputed serenity
and apparent complacency by King, Lords and commons
including among the commons supposing the computation true
those subordinate Judges in numbers by every one of whom money
by hundreds of pounds in every year had been so obtained and put into their own pockets, and Lord
High Chancellor who having respectively the of these their
Subordinates, reaped that some profit by the hands of their friends
and dependent by means of such patronage the same profit
which the parson of Church under the name of an Ad reaps for the for the
received from it by the incumbent
Among the House of Commons paper of the last Parliament, p
is a Report in which stands the name of Esq
one of those Masters in Chancery as having received on the sale
of his Estate to the amount of £8.... whereof £570
for putting his name to a paper called the Particulars of
the State, he having nothing about these same Particulars
Suppose this, or something like it to have been true.
Suppose this same Gentleman to have been of the number of those
same Gentlemen if any such their are or even who
were in the habit of so receiving money on false pretences
Suppose all these suppositions to have been compleatly untrue
this may in the character of case put, which is the character in which
they are here held up to view, be as apposite and proper as if
they are all true
