General Santander Paris Sept. 8 1831 to
Doctor Bowring
Galled by the Government of Columbia timeward,
& that invitation accompanied by marks of the strongest attachment
& esteime, – & the complietes removal of every stigma
Bolivar had endevoured to fling upon my character, & cannot
leave this civilized Europe without thanking you cordially to
all you have done, – without offering you all that my
country can offer, – & without assuring you that your letters
will be writtened by me with delight & your recommendations
attendet to with promptitude.
To our most venerable Bentham respectful reguards and
affectionate encumbrances, & do not doubt that I shall have
the pleasure of telling him that his precious works prohibited
