§. 2. Leading Principle

Expositive

In Of the expence employed on persons too may be distinguished to that which is employed in their maintenance,
subsistence included, in a condition fit for service: 2. what
that portion whatsoever it be which is employed ob bestowed upon them over
and above that which is so employed in keeping them
in a condition fit for service. For the overplus thus designated
see §. 10 1 Remuneration.

Expositive

1. Subsistence. 2. Armatures? – one or other 3. ixt 5. Receptacles fixt and
4. Instruments of conveyance – under one or other
of these denominations may be included whatsoever is employed
portion of the stock employed for military purposes comes under the
the head of things.

1. Food, 2. drinks, 3. cloathing, 4. medicine 5. lodging
to one or other of these four five heads may be referred whatsoever
is employed in or necessary to subsistence.

II. To the head of armature may be referred
for example the several implements following

1. Ordnance or say Great guns, or Artillery
engines instruments for explosion instruments too heavy to be carried by a single
man mounted or not mounted on a horse or other beast
of saddle: add correspondent ammunition missiles employed in the explosion: propelled, the both
sited or , propelling on being ignited, the gun powder

2. Horse Artillery – engines for explosives not too
heavy to be carried by a man mounted on a horse or other
beast of saddle.

3. Musquets Ordinary Musquets, Rifles (for superior extraordinary exactness) and Pistols, explosion instruments: not
too heavy to be carried by a man unmounted

4. Sharp Edged instruments employed in cutting – Broadswords
Sabres &c

5. Pointed instruments employed in pushing – 1. Bayonets
mounted on Forelocks: 2. Lances carried on horseback. 3. Pikes.
