This same institution how came it into existence?
What was the benefit by the contemplation of which it
was brought into existence? Answer None at all: it
is not by any such means that as yet at least Governments
have ever been brought into existence.
Particular sinister interest – Interest-begotten prejudice Prejudice, – custom-begotten prejudice – authority-begotten
prejudice, on this occasion as on others in this country as
in others – in these powers may be seen the causes of every
thing phenomenon that has place in the field of law.

In England under & in company with
the Monarch in addition to the so-styled Representats
of the People this other body acting in a separate
state was seen to have place. In England the
hand of the Monarch was somewhat less heavy
than elsewhere: depredation less: oppression less:
prosperity greater: greater than elsewhere in proportion to
territory absolute opulence and relative opulence – relative
opulence that is to say, proportion of the matter of wealth
to the quantity of the population.
