On this same supposition, the amount of the highest paid
salary being £2000 a year, the sum expressive of the increment,
to be added to the⊞ ⊞ £10,000, which is the
simple or say the
unencreased value of
the right of appointment
to this Office, right of appointment being 9
years purchase, and accordingly 9 times the £2000, is £18000: this sum then, being the amount
of 9 years purchase of this salary will be the
increment to be added: sum to be added to the £10,000 sum total of both together
(the simple sum and incremental sum) the two sums £28000.
Here then follows the Table: in which, the
number of the first item in it being the datum, the numbers
requisite to be ascertained by inferences from this
datum, constitute the several quæsita, and it
is for the reception of these several numbers
that the blanks are left.
