By the tax gatherers, whom even Jesus could not admit without abandonment of their practice, what was collected, was collected not for themselves (at least but a small part of it) but for a government. The government was fully being that of a foreign depot but however in return it afforded under which the enjoyed security at that time not exceeded. p.3.

By the taxgatherers who preferred to preach his religion, the tax is levied for their private use. Not to speak of justice, does this tend to lessen the odium which so yielding a powerful not to inspire. p.3

This task (tythes) a sort of incometax as being not optional as are takes on consumption, but being levied in kind is more grievous/not to speak of the amount by bringing the gatherers in closer contact with the contributor. p.4.

But my accidental depreciations, the money levied by taxgatherers of old was applied to the purposes it was levied for, but with modern publicans and never repentant sinners, though in some applied (however badly) to it's professed purpose, it is in vast proportion applied to opposite ends - not to useful service, but to provide a luxury. p.4.
