This error, supposing
it to prevail with
the efficiency it is capable
of, the consequences
are in kind the
same as those of passive
obedience, but in degree
still more extravagant
and pernicious

Without any disrespect
for the persons
of the governors, and
even notwithstanding
disrespect for
them, government,
it has been shewn
may be carried on
for an indefinite
time. But with any government
general disobedience
is incompatible — Let
it be supposed that
respect will remain
the same. Neither The abjectness

governors, could experience
any decrease.
