1. Above if in authority having a real interest in good deportment

On any such occasion or for any such purpose — give join with
the a Bishop a set of assessors a set of assessors with co-ordinant, he is no longer a Bishop quand

it is Presbyterian.

What indeed it would be possible to do, and possible
as it might be thought content violating the essentials of Episcopalian
discipline is — to throw open the doors of his closet.
to seat him on every such in some public judicatory,
and in this way it must be confessed would be made
the nearest approach that Episcopalian could be
made to efficient and really useful discipline.

But still compared with the Presbyterian form mode of discipline
the Episcopalian form, in this its least bad state, will be
seen to labour under the following disadvantages.

1 In the first place comes that want of between
duty and interest which in so perfect a degree have place in
the case of every non-established Church, and which in a
high a degree compared with the case of the Episcopalian
has place in the Presbyterian established Church.

In each Parish — organized upon the Scotice-Presbyterian
plan the laity to a man, and consequently thence the
delegates to the Presbytery, from them to the Synod, and from
thence to the General Assembly bears one interest — a perfectly
obvious and universally felt and comprehended interest
in the due performance fulfilment of the all the several duties of imperfect obligation
on the part of the each Parochial Minister: in
respect of them if their d can they be part, but they
some or all of them must on this or that d shape
be actually already or continually exposed and happen to be known a sufferer:
in comparison opposition of this common and universally shared interest, any
particular interest which this or that individual member of any such Assembly
would in consequence of this or that particular connection with this or
