Lordship sees it is strife to tender that I am
obliged to attend be attentive to every motion I made—If however
any reason should occur to your Lordship for wishing
me to see the Col. sooner, any intimation to that
effect shall be obeyed the instant I am apprised
of it. In the mean time I have written to Mr.
Hodgson to enquire when Col. is to be met with
having no answer I suppose he had left London
before my letter got there. I am concerned for the
poor Captain, henceforth and should he ever feel
bold enough to amount again, your Lordship in
order to act the more compleatly the part of the
good Samaritan, would do well I think, to see
him upon your own beast, meaning either Ld
Abingdon, or the Miller, upon either of these he
would be comparatively safe: for granting that
he might stand a chance of stumbling ever other
step, yet I have too good an opinion of their
prudence to suppose that either of them would
