Political Hints for Review.

No degree of inaptitude capable of producing
the effect produced by a scratch given to pride
in a royal breast.

The revolution in the Cabinet has been brought to pass. But by what
causes? By a sudden burst of anger passion in the breast of the Monarch. And
of this passion what has been the cause? An invasion of his prerogative
an act of contempt committed against his prerogative. And this act of
contempt, in what did it consist? in the resignation made by the several
functionaries in question, of their several offices. And this designation
what had it in view? the delivering relieving themselves from the burthen? No –
for the situation function it must be confessed has in truth nothing of burthen in it,
it is all so much pure benefit. they are, at any rate the most of them It had then for its ultimate end in view
the affording to the Monarch an adequate inducement for the investing in
their hands the undivided power of the State in preference to, and to the
exclusity of another set of men with whom they where on such terms as
rendered conjunct action no longer possible.

What an offence this! an offence consisting in the exercise of a universally
acknowledged right, a right by the non existence abolition of which a man
would suffice to place a man in a state of perfect slavery.

And it is this is the "for" this offence that the stated offenders stiled delinquents are to be punished
by the severest of punishments which it is in the power of the public opinion
tortures tribunal to inflict!!

What a pictures does this one fact draw present of the state in which in this
country the public mind continues notwithstanding all the improvement
which of late years it has undergone.

In this sweeping punishment was involved the late Chancellor Lord
Eden. And his offence what was it? Was it the having been ever
since
