J.B. & HB. agreed as to
fundamentals—
Differences
1 H.B. states them in
ubiter J.B. at the
commencedment
To come at once to fundamentals It is no small satisfaction to me to observe that my
learned friend and I agree on fundamentals. Then in Believers however In regard
to these same fundamentals there is are have two differences.
1. He states then in ubiter, to serve a particular purpose,
in so many parentheses: neither at the beginning,
to give in the analysis the least to expectation; nor at the end, in the
way of inference. By me no thing are placed at the commencement.
2. HB. in so many
parentheses JB. in the
form of distinct propositions.
2. By him they are stuck in the so many parentheses
by me, they are exhibited in the form of distinct propositions
each of them actually employed in forming the
groundwork for what every thing that follows .
3. HB. departs from
these rules JB. never
without notice of exception.
3. By him the rules of which they are respectively the expression
are to a wide no inconsiderate extent in the field of the subject departed from: perhaps over
the whole work the exception of the comparatively narrow slip by which
they were suggested in which they had their birth. By
me the no rules is in any instance departed from without
notice given of the exception, at the time of the announcement
of the rule.
