40 March 31, 1827 Bentham Peel Expenses of conveyancing small in America. Good points of French as comp. with Eng. Jurisprudence. On Peel's £6,000 additional patronage. Lord Lansdowne's admiration & veneration for J.B., who wants neither the one nor the other from Peel. If Peel acts for the welfare of the vast majority of the people, Bentham's party will assist him, if on behalf – of the lawyer tribe, Bentham etc. will oppose.
