76 March 28 1830 Bentham Peel No work actually on above subject, but 'Panopticon' (1791) referred to its supersession by better mode of punishment. This system adopted approved By Pitt as much as the cold & haughty nature of that minister was susceptible of, & by Melville. Mr B's measure framed as an act. Doomed to fail. Muso, mihi causas memora quo numine laeso, Quidce ddens regina deum. Juno was George III. B. had incurred ocewo displeasure of this "God upon Earth" by his opposition to G's desire to plunge country into foreign wars (as set forth in J.B.'s Anti-Machiavel. Etc. ... B's 'Penitentiary System' & work on 'Pauper management'.
