1826 Apr. 5
J.B. to Secy Peel. Letter 11Not employed

☞ Number these Chron. of this day Apr. 5 in Scottish scarcity of bodies.

Sir

The honour done attention shewn me by the confidentiality and
promptitude and confidentiality of the notice taken of my
address of the last is not lost upon me.

☞ Then go on on the subject of subject matter for dissection,
according to such Determinate opinion as shall upon fresher
consideration shall have been formed.

☞ For Letter 111

In the accompanying tract published tract – "Letters to the Conde de Toreno" for which I beg the
honor of your acceptance, will may be found a variety
of observations which bearing on the subject of Codification, and
which as such may be considered as capable of being con
constituting a sort of supplement to that the as yet unpublished
with a copy of which I took the liberty of addressing sending
to you not a day or two after I
was favored with a copy of your late speech. Had
it appeared probable to me that you were apprized of the
bearing of that now already antiquated work on this
subject I should not have then alter taken any such
course as this for presenting it to your notice. But
the title of it not being such as to convey any intimation
to any such effect, and the state of things which
formed the subject of it being so compleatly extinct, it
seemed to me that in with a view to the passages herein
above alluded to, you might not possibly get disposed,
at some moment of comparative leisure to cast
an eye on it: classification in the field of penal law
being in the passages in question not only brought to view
but other individualised and thereby familiarised in some
sort by reference made to the practice of the then existing
Spanish government.
