1827 March 31
J.B. to Peel.

Without need of exertion
on my part, my opinion
on this subject will
in the ordinary course of
things become the opinion
of the liberalists throughout
Europe the globe.

The Prime Encyclopédique
is in possession of
setting the bar

Ld L's admiration and
veneration
From you Sir young Gentleman I desire
neither the one
nor the other, what I
desire, and it is all

I abjured Office
from the first: what
I longed for was Parliamemt: I have
What Parliament is
was the to
me: what it is now
is no secret to me:
were my age but half
what it is, no time
should I have to
waste in it.

I have go in

been anywhere since
you were out of your

If you came to me
your face will be
with the necessary mask
on it. Your situation
has need of me:
mine has no need of
any such implement and never has it.

If your patience and
determination is – to
serve and support the
cause interest of the vast majority,
you will look
down upon the lawyer
tribe, and in so far
as is necessary to the purpose
of acting for the
people, act against that
particular and small-numbered
class, making employing them
at the same time and for
that same purpose your instruments.

If your determination
is – not to act for the
people – but for and with
the lawyer-tribe against
the people you will
look up to the lawyer
class, and in consequence
may

hands.

In the first case
you will have me and
my School for your
assistant, such as they
are.

In the other case you
will have me and my
School for your opponents
and antagonists: and
whether any by the results
and in respect of the service
done to the cause of the
people, your designs
against them – your
hostility to them will
at any rate be laid
bare: and the whole
body of the subject many
in theory come as will be arranged against you.

You will not, I hope,
place it to any such
account as that of personal
hostility on my
part towards yourself
when I declare to you
that I feel myself
compleatly at a
loss to difference satisfy myself

of that business was

Jury-packing, or to
confirm it
universalize the extent
of it, and perpetrate
it: thereby abolishing

against despotism by in whatsoever hands were
exercised – directly and
openly by the hands of
Parliament so indirectly and covertly
by those the hands of the Judges.

But At the same time
while my the anxiety
is one in correspondent to
this ignorance and
doubt, I have in my
hands and by these
presents am exercising
the power of putting
an end to it

One opponent at any
rate you will have
who cannot by any
possibility be bought off,
and though in any
numbers others may
probably be bought off
yet by the very fact of
them being bought off
others will be invited
and induced to
come in and tread in
the same steps.

By betraying the
confidence in question
I should not to anything
near so great an
extent defeat your
purposes as I should
my own: yours
might in a small degree
be obstructed: mine

I state this as a
much more substantial
and trustworthy
ground for any such confidence
you might
feel inclined to repose
on in me, than any
which the which in
the nature of things the case
could be constituted
by any opinions or opinion which
you could receive for
in my favour of me or
in that of my favour

the opposite effect or even
