Queen's Square Place, Westr.
Saty. 14 April 1827.
Sir,
The day before yesterday, at the desire
of Mr. Courtney, in his quality of Librarians ( I
know not the exact denomination) of the Library
of the House of Lords, I transmitted to him a copy
of the paper herewith inclosed, including the
ms Entry with which the vacant space is filled
up. Confident that if Libraries thought, as Books
in Swift's time fought, your's would not think
itself dishonoured, by a document, the counterpart
of which had been desired by authority for
the use of the Right Honourable House, I take
the Liberty of begging for it the additional honor
of your acceptance. No such annoyance
will be inflicted by it, as might have been
by the remainder of Official Aptitude maximized
to.
I am, Sir,
With constant respect;
yours,
(signed) Jeremy Bentham
Right Hon. Robt. Peel
