'I told you in a former Letter of Mr having made acquaintance
with me as being the Brother of the Bentham whose works he had presented
to the National Assembly. I told you of his being reputed one of the best if
not the best greek Scholar which this Country affords but I did not tell you of the
offer he made of his services to forward George's progress in that language because
I did not know enough of him to judge how far he was likely to fulfill his offer.
In the mean time he was absent 3 weeks to superintend his . He dined
with us on his return, renewed his offer to admit George every day as much of the time
as he was willing to spend with him between 12 and 3. George accordingly has been
3 or 4 times and his lessons appear to have been interrupted only by occasional
occupations and excursions of Mr out of Town. He seems to have
a very complete library for every thing in and concerning the greek language
and an extraordinary memory so that as he and George read one book together
he remembers on the discussion of any particular word the several books in which
the same word is used and refers immediately to the passage to establish the variation
or the conformity of the Signification

He and George seem as far as I can judge very well satisfied with each other.

# Rivadavia. Don Bernardino Rivadavia appointed Aquil for the State of Buenos
Ayres at this Court, but for two years past chiefly resident at Paris
in order to watch and attend upon the Congresses of Soverains and
Ministers there.
