novices, or to administer the vows to existing novices—

11 Government will aid by all the means in its power, the
secularization of those Religious who solicit it; preventing all
vexation or violence on the part of the superiors; & will
obtain the permission of the Holy See, for their appointment
to prebendaries, & other secular benefices—

12 The nation will give 100 Ducats of subsistence, to every
ecclesiastic ordained in sacris, who shall be secularized;
which subsistence shall be enjoyed, untill he shall obtain
some benefice or ecclesiastical income, sufficient for his
subsistence—

13. Every ecclesiastic desiring to be secularized, shall apply
personally, or by an authorized agent, to the political chief
of the province in which he resides, by whom shall be
assigned to him, the subsistence spoken of in the last article—

14. There shall be but one convent of friars of any order within
any City, town, or village & its territorial boundaries; except
in the extraordinary case of a hamlet, in the vicinity of a
Capital, & where in the judgment of the government it may
be necessary to preserve a Country-Convent, untill the proposed
new arrangement of parishes—

15. Every religious community which shall contain less than
24 ecclesiastics ordained in sacris, shall unite itself to
the nearest convent of the same degree; whither its members
shall go to reside; but in places which contain but one
convent, such convent may continue to exist, as long as
it contains 12 ecclesiastics ordained in sacris

16 If the community to which the members of a suppressed
house shall unite themselves, do not possess a sufficient
income for the maintenance of both, the government may
assign to it, upon the public credit, such pension as it may
judge necessary—

17 In relation to the execution of the preceeding articles, if
any doubt arise as to the suppression or permanency of
