in order that they may be distributed to the libraries, museums,
academies & other establishments for public instruction—
25. It is left to the discretion of the bishops, to distribute
among the poor parishes of their dioceses, the sacred vessels,
jewels, ornaments, images, altars, organs, music books, &
other utensils applicable to religious ceremonies—
26. The Bishops may, after consulting thereupon the government,
make provisional use of the churches that shall
become vacant, & be required for public worship, untill
the new division of parishes shall be completed—
Article 1st— was approved by 107 votes against 32—
Articles 2. 3. 4 & 5 were approved—
Article 6 was approved, except the clause which related relating
to the Hospitalers of San Juan de Dios, which was
referred to the committee
All the other articles were approved with some
additions, & the 24th, although approved, was sent to
the Committee, because there had been submitted by
Sr Bardillo, a proposition, that lists of all the books
in the libraries of suppressed convents, be sent to the
Cortes, for the purpose of having formed from among
them, a library for the use of that body—
