1820 Nov. 21.
J.B. to Mora

I mentioned, as a reason for this enquiry, that I
have some friends and correspondents in the Cortes;
and that it was material for me to be apprized
where they might be directed to: and, whether I did
right or no in so doing, is it was that I mentioned
M. Puigblance, Count Torreno, and M. Callatrava:
for from Mr Puigblance and the Count I had seen
letters to Mr Bowring of which I was the subject, and
in which I was spoken of in the most honorable terms:
and, in M. Puigblance's letter, Mr Callatrava was

was —he was sorry it was not in his power
to appoint any earlier day that this day Thursday.
On this day, a little before 2, instead of M. de Colomb,
came a messenger, saying, he was sorry he could
not come before Sunday. Which put-off, having been
apprized of the influx of the news from Madrid, I was more sorry
for, than surprized at. To this delay, in the possibility
of giving finding some support for the newspaper project, I
determined not to omitt doing what might be in my power
towards applying a remedy. It occurred to me that
