J.B. to Mora
Friday Novr 24. It being clear that the first and principal
part of my Brothers "Service" will go with this – whereby
the negotiation with those whom it may concern will be
compleatly in your hands, it is in that point of view
not material that M. de Colomb should take any cognizance
of it. The only reason then which I have for wishing
him to take cognizance of it is that – namely that by his
view of the importance of the service capable of being rendered
to his country in this shape, he may hold himself
justifiable in rendering service in the other shape in
which you are more immediately concerned: namely, the
affording a constant transmission to the two Newspapers
abovementioned, which can only be by the post, and so far
at the expence of your government. This there was not time
for proposing to him, had matters between him and me
been ripe for it. In the meantime I have obtained
from and Hunt a promise for them performing their
part of the business. Unfortunately that supremely thin
paper with which I on which I wrote this will not
be large enough to receive an impression either of the
Examiner or the Traveller: we must therefore look out for
the next thinnest paper that can be found, and be careful
to prune off all . But now another thing
remaining: namely the obtaining of transmission, equally
regular if possible of the El Constitutional from you
to us: this I shall accordingly try for, if I see an
opening: and in the meantime you may speak to
him on your part.
