Sir
I have the honour to acknowledge the recent
of the bearer of a letter from you without date, received
on the 22d Jany instant through the embassy of your King
at this Court.
My labours such as they are have for a considerable
time past been devoted to the endeavour
to render to the service my services useful to the nation of which
you are so distinguished and illustrious Member.
No inducement consideration which may could present
me with an inducement which you could present
me with can be sufficient to engage me to divest to
the use of any individual or any number of individuals
less than the whole, any portion of that time which extends
engaged pledged to the whole. The being you I shall will not
I flatter myself be regarded as chargeable either with personal
disrespect towards you, or with breach of any engagement
express or implied of the real answer which I have to sumitt
to you is to the whole of the Spanish public
at the same time.
