Mora's Imprisonment. J.B.'s Remarks on it

4
4

(8) [The pulpit taken away] Taken away? by whom? By the
Military Guard? No: but as will appears almost in by the Master of the Coffeehouse:
who afforded whose right to make this such a disposition of this
or any other part of his furniture can hardly be matter of
dispute

(6) [The Master of the Coffeehouse is the threatened] Threatened?
by whom, and with what? There are parts of the case that
should not have been left in silence undisclosed As the case
stands it is by one that the deed was done: the same personage
by whom on the same occasion as many his deeds are
stated as having been done. This is among the consequences is a narrative of any kind
of employing the French language: a language which notwithstanding
the prodigious body of valuable instruction that has been conveyed
by it, is in a remarkable and perhaps unexampled
degree ill adapted to the ends of language. What
an instrument for narration! an action narrated, agents
in any number concerned in it, and from the beginning of the
narrative to the end no one agent discernible from any other!

( ) [he the Master of the House yields: the pulpit is a replaced.]
Good: it was there by the Master of the House that this important
implement was thus dealt with: by the Master of the House whose
right thus to deal with it can not have been exposed to dispute
not by the commands of the military party, by whom the right of
thus dealing with it was or was not possessed according as by
the letter of the law and of the order grounded in it the right
was or was not given to him.
