Mora's Imprisonment

15
15

The forbearance — the self restraint — of the people the political continence
on the one hand, of the ruling powers on the other,
is truly edifying. Were it not for the particularly disastrous
circumstances by which his situation is characterized
even the fate lot of the most illustrious virtue
might have been the object of many rather than of
(sympathetic regret} deploring sympathy. That light
which but for that stretch of authority would have
continued shining to illuminate his country with tranquil unclouded lustre splendor
is for the present extinguished: a little while however
and it may revive, and shine forth with augmented
lustre.
