J.B. to Colomb on Mora's Case

+ 1
1

Dear Sir

If I do not much misrecollect it was
though your hands, and in an open state, that I
received the letter from Mora on 24 Jany accompanied
by a short paper in his hand intituled The Case
of Mora
, which by the in the course of the letter he desires
me to convey to the Examiner Newspaper for publication. This I shall
accordingly do: and knowing as I do how particularly
the new attention of the persons concerned in that paper happens at
this moment to be engrossed by the prosecution under which one of them
is upon the point of being brought to trial, I have myself
made a translation of it which I shall send.

What is Much about the same time came On that same day came
to me from another quarter a communication, copy
of which accompanies this. Had it not been for this sort
of adverse document I should have contented myself
with sending to the press the translation of the paper which he desired
me to send, and nothing more. But now that the intercourse
on which in his letter to me he grounds claims upon the
public esteem has been regarded, as you will see, matters of as if it
against as a ground of suspicion to his prejudice, the motives to which his conduct in this particular
was referred by his adversaries a number of persons being, it should seem
of a nature opposite to in their nature to those to which
he himself referrs it, I feel myself tempted to add to the
paper abovementioned paper so much of his letter as relates to
this subject. At the same time not having from him any
warrant for so doing, fearful at the same time as I am of incurring the
charge of breach of confidence, and of doing mischief when I my wish is
would to do good, I write this to beg the favour of your advice
and
and direction in relation
to this subject
