A 1821 Translation by Mr Bowring from Toribio Nunez, Espiritu de Bentham

vii. (Preface) "If your (To J Ben) countrymen have not appreciated the
first display of your analitical spirit – if your anatomical knife
has not claimed drawn their attention – if they have not distinguished the
perspicuity of your mathematical talents, – if they have not
known observed the paths by which you have introduced them into the new
region of jurisprudence, – Spain which sees clearly now – Spain knows
how to value appreciate your discoveries – & she is about to extend their influence
& give recommendation her testimony to their value. Her new legislation will be
established on the firm bases of your beneficent principles: by them
her youth are about to learn the social science, her sages are to
admire & extend its results: her literate will to make it easy &
accessible to the multitude. Her alcaldes (magistrates) will study it
to avoid suits at law prevent law-suits: her jurisconsults will introduce its splendor
in into the temples of justice; & all will learn to avoid evil, – & to receive & propagate
the good which you have given us. Our example will spread this
all Europe & all America – future ages will repeat with gratitude
the name of that Sage, who taught its legislators the laws engraved by
the Eternal on the human mind – & which you (Bentham) were privileged
to demonstrate for the well-being & the union of this great family.

Generous Spaniards: unite your efforts to mine."
Put Whatever gratitude may be owing to the inventor of bread, of wheels &. &. &.
much more is due to the Inventor of the Social Science, – for this will be
Bentham's interesting name. One trophy at least he shall receive, – that
of our gratitude, – which shall hand him down to future generations
involved enwrapt enwrapt in beneficence – respected by justice, & controlling despotism.
Those who wonder at our enthusiasm – let them not condemn till they
have read & considered his Noology (his description of the diseases of the body politic) – of which we shall not attempt any
description: – for no words of ours would be sufficient to its praise
