Those who, thro' these new telescopes, shall examine the discussions of
our Congress will be able to ascertain to what point, their previous
knowlege, their wish to avoid error, & their ardent patriotism
may lead them forward the lovers of the common weal: & what
most honors our P.P. (Fathers of the Country) is that
defects are being known, a reform is promised in our legal Code,
by which those changes will be made in the statutes which were
instated by urgent necessity. May God grant that my labors
may both diminish the difficulties of the task – that the wisdom
of Bentham may ameliorate their progress, – or operate in giving
it effect & spread it over all the Monarchy.
