1820 Sept. 10.

In my "Church of Englandism examined", these principles of
official and financial economy are appli in much greater
detail applied to the Ecclesiastical Establishment. One Of that work
though
for the sake of the political part of the first half part is doctrinal: the
other half part is openly political. As In so far as thing they give as an exposure of the abominations of
this our heretical establishment, some parts of that work might
be endorsed (I should suppose), even with you, and on that account on that consideration, a copy of it is
proposed to accompany your assortment from part of that assortment, Sir, which courts your acceptance: if I remember right
I forbear it to the it was not inserted into either of the parcels received by Mr
Arguelles.

Unfortunately the more is seen of my works, the
more thoroughly it is understood, how strongly by
the service they
favourable they are the whole tendency of them is to the interest of
the subject many, which is as much as to say how
adverse it is they are in every country to the particular and sinister interest of the
ruling few.

A code body code of laws drawn up in a consistent manner
upon my principles would be a satire upon any
code which is likely to seems without injury to the lawyer tribe lawyer's sinister interest could.
Of they lawyers you suffer its willingly suffer any such work to be called for
such a hand any hands, they will be much less self with
their own particular interests than
they must be either
deficient in discernment to such a degree as in
men of that profession class would, in any country be miraculous, or abundant
in generosity to a degree more as yet exemplified still more miraculous.
that or any other. If their resistance be subdued at all, therein
it must be by the same arm that open Monarchical despotism has
been subdued by: unfortunately the mischief of produced by despotism in their hands aristocratical hands,
mischief in this shape, though not less scarcely less intense and extensive, and
much more difficulty remediable, is much less manifest
than those that produced by open undisguised despotism in monarchical hands.
When a man is ruined by law, to know that the cause of his ruin lies in the
view of the law, and
thus in the sinister interest
and ingenuity of those
who framed it, he must
be thoroughly renders him the have a
thorough insight into the texture of it: which to any the </del> has not devoted years to the study of it, is, in the present state of it, impossible: thus the greater the demand
for it, the more hopeless is the remedy.
