In the devising of In relation to appropriate remedies, one distinction
is of prime importance — in respect of practical effect
and usefulness: namely that between such as are capable of
being employed antecedently to the reform in the system of
Procedure: and those which can not be employed till
that consummation at once so desirable and so difficult

1. For making addressing the challenge. Fines say to the amount of the
last years income. Year the Solar year ending in with the preceding
December the month of December last preceding
2 For accepting do Fine
1/2 years income
Sending For Receiving the challenge and accepting the Challenge.
Fine — say to the amount of half a years
of the years income as above.
3 Persons knowing of the
issuing of the challenge
& not informing
3. Persons knowing of and assisting to the offering of the Challenge,
without ever giving timely confirmation of it in law
for preventing the combat, & including all persons instrumental in
the conveyance of it — having or having reason to suspect the con

& not informing

it such to be or having reason to regard it as so being, and not giving
