When thus performed by two men at a time
The practice of Killing a man for money for the sake of the money to be got by it
becomes thus matter the fashion of universal honour, while if performed
by one man only, and by him not or money but for
revenge it sent him to the gallows.

Even to this day, under English Common Law duelling if when by order of a
Judge, is lawful: and where the subject matter of dispute
being a piece of land, the title made to it is of a certain
date, this and no other is, in certain circumstances
the mode of trial which by the enacting Common law the Judge
is authorized to appoint. Practised with under this
fiat it is lawful: practised without it this favour fiat it is murder.

But no crime wickedness so flagitious but by his own will and pleasure that the will of an English
Judge can not render not only innocent but meritorious. Things are Right and wr or wrong, meritorious even or flagitious according to his word.
