1828. Jany 7
Law Amendment.

Even in the case of the lithiferous challenge room for distinction
in this respect has place. The Proposition made of Challenge to fight employ with
the sword is less lithiferous than proposition made of challenge to employ pistols.
Why? because the sword is never under the command
of him who uses it, than the pistol is: of him who uses the
sword, the aim endeavour desire may equally be and the aim commonly is
rather to disarm than to kill – to inflict produce a temporary disablement, in
preference to death.

Different in this respect may be seen to be the cases
of the different species of Duellists.

Duellists in the case of when the design is exclusively
lithiferous, 1. the Successor-craving Duellist. 2. the Rancorous
bloodthirsty Duellist.

Duellists in the case of when the design is commonly
not exclusively lithiferous but rather disjunctively
lithiferous and in preference with lithiferous are the several
others.
