Example in Estates The truth of these propositions is testified by universal practise.
An article of property, An Estate, is valuable: it has a value On
what account? as a fund of pleasures. Now the value of an Estate,
as every one knows, increases and decreases, according to settled rules,
in the above proportions.

Numbers Thus much concerning pleasure in a single person: but we are to consider
it in a Society: in a State. A State consists of a number of
persons. Hence, in speaking of pleasures in a State, to the four considerations
above mentioned we must add a fifth; that of numbers
namely of the persons that partake of it are partakers of the pleasure.

Lot of Happiness Pleasure, referred to a State, that is a State taken in its totality,
will no longer bear that name: it takes the name of Happiness. We
say "the pleasure" as well as "the Happiness", of a man: we seldom
say the pleasure, we almost always say the happiness, of a State.
What in a man therefore is called a pleasure, in a State may be called
a lot of Happiness.

It's extent is a 5th ingredient in its value A lot of Happiness, in proportion to the number of persons that partake
of it, may be said to extend itself through a State.
Hence, if under in taking
account of the the consideration of the number of persons that are partakers of it, we may speak of its extent.
In the
extent, thus explained, of a Lot of Happiness, we have a 5th ingredient is in
<add>the value of it and a 5th Dimension: of these 5 ingredients</add> The two qualities of certainty and proximity are do neither of them enter essentially into -forms a third Dimension
